Encounters with the problems raised by COVID-19 virus continues and ADRA is not stopping, constantly withstanding the challenges. The tenacity and perseverance of the team are unwavering in this perpetual struggle in helping those who are hard-pressed by the problems they face. Respecting the ADRA purpose, the protection norms, as well as all the other legislative provisions, team members are also respecting the creed for which they fight through all available means.
In the 19th week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 1,121 people, of which: 957 adults are fighting to ensure decent living conditions; 66 are single elderly people with acute subsistence needs; 50 are children from disadvantaged backgrounds but with exceptional academic results; 37 are entrepreneurs; 6 are immigrants; and 5 are victims of domestic violence.
Therefore, in the week of 12.07-18.07 alone, the specialized services adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the COVID-19 context were materialized through the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” for 1,121 beneficiaries as follows: 855 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, among whom 75 received a daily hot meal, at home; 200 new-borns received baby kits and help at the beginning of the journey, according to their needs; 37 entrepreneurs received support to continue their economic activity; 13 people received help through shelter provided; 10 people benefited from social assistance and psychological crisis counseling; 6 beneficiaries received food and hygiene products, medicines, or protective crisis equipment.
The humanitarian help offered by ADRA Romania consists of information, awareness, counseling, and distribution of food and hygiene products. The services and products were provided by the qualified personnel of the ADRA team who acted by following the security and safety policies and rules imposed by current laws of the World Health Organization (WHO), Strategic Communication Group, Health Ministry, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in partnership with local authorities and accredited institutions. Some specialized services have been outsourced.
“As time goes on, it becomes increasingly clear that the COVID-19 pandemic is facing a protracted war,” said Ovidiu Burbulea, ADRA Project Coordinator / Supervisor in Moldova and Bucovina. “ADRA Romania continues to react like a soldier faithful to the instruction received, offering those most affected the opportunity to move forward. Our weapons? Bread, clothes or medicine but also a lot of confidence that, in the end, we will win.”

Through the project “Humanitarian support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus within the population. This objective is achieved by promoting prevention measures and socio-economic adaptability as well as ensuring the fulfilment of need for commodities to maintain safety.
