In the 26th week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 1,888 people, of which: 647 adults are fighting to ensure decent living conditions; 638 children are from disadvantaged backgrounds, but have exceptional academic results; 596 are single elderly people and with acute subsistence needs; and 7 are victims of domestic violence.

Therefore, in the period of 30.07 – 05.09.2020 alone, the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” utilized their specialized services, which were adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the COVID-19 context, for 1,888 beneficiaries as follows: 1,431 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, of which 75 received a hot meal at home, every day; 400 newborns received baby kits and help at the beginning of their journey, according to needs; 45 people received help through shelter provided; 12 people benefited from social assistance and crisis counseling.

“At ADRA headquarters, we continued to make every effort to ensure that projects run smoothly,” said Norela Costea, assistant manager for acquisitions for ADRA Romania. “Even if, in the first months of this crisis, some beneficiaries were forced by the health situation to interrupt their activity, lately there has been an attempt to return to normal with all that this entails from a legal point of view. Thus, [all of] our attention is focused on offering them the best solutions in carrying out projects with European funding,” concluded Costea.

“With each passing week, God makes His presence felt in the lives of disadvantaged families through ADRA Romania,” said Delia Fărâmiță, assistant manager for emergency situations and manager of marketing and communication for ADRA Romania.

“Our activity through the project, "Humanitarian support COVID-19", flourishes every week and we manage to bring smiles [to the faces] and relief to the souls of people affected by the virus. May God bless our work,” concluded Fărâmiță.

Through the project “Humanitarian support COVID-19”, specially created for the current situation, ADRA Romania aims to reduce the risks generated by the COVID-19 virus within the population. The objective is achieved by promoting prevention measures and socio-economic adaptability, and by ensuring the need for commodities to maintain safety.

Since 1990, ADRA Romania has been involved in special projects to provide care for beneficiaries in the whole country. Leading its project under the motto “Justice. Compassion. Love.”, a motto through which a better value and human dignity are promoted for the future, ADRA Romania brings joy and hope to the elderly beneficiaries. As the provider of accredited social services, ADRA Romania is a part of the ADRA International network, the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. As one of the most wide-spread non-governmental organizations in the world, the network is active in more than 130 countries and projects are implemented based on the philosophy that caring combines compassion with the practical spirit, addressing people in need, without them being of a particular race, ethnicity, political orientation or religion. The goal is to provide a human service so that the world can coexist as planned.
