In the 42nd week, ADRA IS HERE helping the collateral victims of the COVID-19 virus.
In the 42nd week of implementation of the project "Humanitarian Support COVID-19", the ADRA team reached 3,762 people: 3,026 adults fighting to ensure decent living conditions; 519 children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but who have exceptional academic results; 131 single elderly people with acute livelihoods; 74 entrepreneurs; 7 immigrants; and 5 victims of domestic violence.
Therefore, in the week of December 20–26, 2020, the ADRA project “Humanitarian Support COVID-19” engaged the specialized services adapted to the specific needs generated or accentuated by the COVID-19 context for 3,762 beneficiaries, as follows: 2,846 people received food, hygiene products, medicines, or protective equipment; 825 people received basic food for a decent living and to be able to get through these days of crisis more easily, of which 76 received a daily hot meal at home; 74 entrepreneurs were monitored in the course of their economic activity; 9 people benefited from social assistance and psychological counseling for the crisis; 8 people received help through shelter provided.
“The end of the year is a period of a retrospective [look] at what [this year] was and of evaluating the situations that each of us went through,” said Walter Creciuneac, Assistant Secretary Director and accountant for ADRA Romania. “Despite the difficulties we encountered in 2020, we are glad that we have reached the end. Thank you for the spirit of solidarity shown towards our hard-pressed peers during this period. As for 2021, we live in the hope that it will be better. Beyond the situations we cannot control, we want to be closer to each other and more confident that God's plan for our lives and those of our fellow men is the best possible option,” concluded Creciuneac.
