On Monday, October 12, 2020, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency - ADRA Romania inaugurated in the community of Valea Lungă, in the village of Valea Lungă-Cricov, in Dâmbovița county, the 330th social house built within the project "Finally home!", for the family of Gabriel and Veronica Cismaru with their two young children, Cristian and Alexia.
After receiving the request for help and assessing the situation, ADRA Romania decided to get involved in building a new house for this family in distress, the project being coordinated by Daniel Neacșu, Project Manager/Coordinator ADRA Romania in Muntenia and Dobrogea areas, together with Bogdan and Eliza Aldescu, Răzvan Păun, Cristian Gurău, Cristi Tolea, Dacian Aldea, Raul Aldea, FLorin Pătulea and Laurențiu Matei, ADRA Romania volunteers in the project “Finally home!”.
The 330th new house project, the social house built under the ADRA project "Finally home!" for Gabriel and Veronica Cismaru family with their two young children, Cristian and Alexia, took place over 7 months, starting on March 18, 2020, and ending October 12, 2020. To complete the new house of 60 metres square, consisting of two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom, hall, and a terrace, with an investment value of 69,813. It involved 10 volunteers and 6 sponsors who contributed financially and through construction materials.
Present at the event, Robert Georgescu, Executive Director of ADRA Romania said: “The Adventist Development, and Relief Agency - ADRA Romania invests in people's potential, one of these investments is to support various socially disadvantaged categories. Since 2005, ADRA Romania has been implementing house construction projects, to improve living conditions for various vulnerable families. As mentioned, the number 330 or the 330th house may not be big, but it is a big number for people with a big heart who were willing to invest to help this family. On this occasion, we follow the purpose of ADRA, "we serve humanity so that everyone lives together as God planned", I would like to remind you that no project can be realized if there is no man behind it”.
"I am glad to be in the middle of this beautiful event”, said Georgel Pîrlitu, Executive Secretary of the Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania. “Usually, when someone does a favour for someone else it’s for his own benefit or for his family or his employees, but when ADRA does something, it is not done for self benefit, but for others. There are 330 houses where there is no more complaining and sighing regarding living conditions because of ADRA and a few people with big hearts did something about it. Therefore, I congratulate ADRA and especially Bogdan Aldescu and the whole team that made this dream possible.”
“It is an autumn day and when we say autumn, we refer to that season in which we value the sun more”, said Robert Mandache, President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Muntenia Conference. “Beyond this season, we are all going through a period of fog in society today and I am glad that despite the times we live in, we can enjoy the sunshine in meetings like today. If we now have the light and warmth of this event, it is because, as mentioned earlier, people in the back worked, dreamed, gave, and sacrificed for the successful completion of this ADRA Romania project. On behalf of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Muntenia and Dobrogea region,”continued Mandache,” I address a word of sincere appreciation to all who were involved. I think that this means being human, and for me, this is the deep meaning of the notion of church, namely to gather together the forces of good for the service of those in need. I am glad today to be among the people of hope, who have understood that these are the true values, to serve our fellow man.”
“In my opinion, this project had a start, namely the other ADRA construction project in which Mr. Bogdan Aldescu was involved”, said Daniel Neacșu, ADRA Muntenia and Dobrogea Project Coordinator. “At that inauguration, one child was the beneficiary, and now there are two beneficiary children. I hope that this will become a habit and help three children next time. ADRA project "Finally home!" for the Cismaru family was completed with the help of volunteers, donors, and those involved along the way in its completion. I have all the admiration for the work and tenacity of those involved in helping the Cismaru family so that they would not be discouraged and I pray that God may reward their effort and work and bless this family so that they can appreciate what they received today,” concluded Neacșu.

You have made some people happy and I say this because I was with them and I witnessed the steps that took place in the work of construction on the house. Donors and volunteers contributed to the creation of this beautiful atmosphere for the Cismaru family within the ADRA project Finally home!” concluded Creciuneac.
The project "Finally home!" is how ADRA Romania is involved in supporting disadvantaged families, building family homes for those who live in difficult conditions, but having the desire to work. Since its inception, every year, ADRA identifies and supports needy people who do not have a suitable living space, by building housing and providing competent assistance. This project is carried out in partnership with local authorities, and funding comes from both individuals and legal entities. The implementation of the project is done with the help of volunteers from our country and abroad.
