The Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Switzerland, ADRA Switzerland, has sent 4,068 parcels by train to Moldova as part of this year's Christmas parcel campaign "Pack es Päckli". At the beginning of January 2024, on the occasion of the Orthodox Christmas festivities, they will be distributed to children living in the poorest of circumstances in cooperation with ADRA Moldova.
Great need for help in Moldova
According to ADRA, the need for help in Moldova, the third poorest country in Europe, is great. This is why not only Christmas parcels are distributed when ADRA employees visit the families, but also clothing and food parcels. According to ADRA Switzerland, if all the requests received by ADRA Moldova from various social organisations were taken into account, over 30,000 parcels would have to be packed and sent out.
Thanks to logistics company TTS
"A very special thank you also goes to our logistics company TTS, which, this year, provided us with the largest railway wagon we have ever had for this campaign," writes ADRA Switzerland on its website. This made it possible to send more boxes with toys, warm clothing for children and adults, as well as various other aids in addition to the more than 4,000 parcels.
