Bern, Switzerland [Bergland Admin.; CD EUDNews]. The Bergland (former Bioherba) Group contributes to a healthy diet and serves the Adventist Church.

In 2007, our church sold the De-Vau-Ge Gesundkostwerk located in Lüneburg. The change of ownership didn't affect the health food stores. This business will continue to be run by the Adventist Church in Heimertingen (Allgäu-region). Following is a brief description of the company, which operates under the name Bergland.

The Bergland Group is a subsidiary of the De-Vau-Ge Foundation. Starting from its current headquarters in Heimertingen, close to Memmingen (Bavaria), it sells a wide range of health foods and pharmaceutical products to health food stores, pharmacies, and also to larger supermarkets such as Edeka. The offer includes about 1,500 items, from classic bio-muesli to soya drinks, from vegetarian pies to flaxseed products, food supplements and medical cosmetics.

The products are distributed under the following well-known brands:

• Granovita: health food products ranging from cereals to soya yogurts, bio-snacks, vegetarian delicatessen products (such as pies, sausages, schnitzel), soya drinks and nut butters.

• EDEN: the "pure nature" brand consisting of juices, honey and vegetarian delicatessen products.

• Nook: special honey such as eucalyptus.

• Martin Evers: the natural food brand for children.

• Bruno Fischer: the bio-brand for vegetarian delicatessen

• GranoVital: the brand of food supplements.

• Linusit: the well-known brand for flaxseed products.

• Bergland Pharma: professional brand of natural cosmetics and essential oils.

The company expertise lies in the production and distribution of health products. These must be wholesome, naturally grown and organic.

All brand-name products are constantly reviewed and improved by nutritionists, food chemists and pharmacists. Thus, the vegetarian products are guaranteed dioxin-free.

The English health food market is served from the business at the second location in the UK. Products are sold in all European countries as well as in Asia and Canada. In close cooperation with the Spanish sister company, the Granovita S.A., run by the Spanish Union of Seventh-day Adventists, the Bergland group produces canned products - for example, pies - and is able to sell many of its products through the Spanish company, such as flax seed products, yoghurts etc.

120 employees work currently for the Bergland Group. They all support the Seventh-day Adventist social and missionary projects and also contribute to increasing the awareness of "healthy eating".

"The Inter-European Division's Communication Department is happy to support all excellent adventist companies in the region, like Bergland", commented Corrado Cozzi, EUD Communication Director. "We are proud of the Bergland Company, because it focuses its mission on health, supporting social and missionary projects of the Adventist Church."
