The City of Möckern has officially conferred the title of Hochschulort (University Town) upon Friedensau. The new designation was formally unveiled during a ceremonial event on Monday, July 6, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the locality's long-standing academic history.
The granting of the Hochschulort title serves as official recognition for the educational contributions carried out in Friedensau over the past 127 years. Moving forward, this change will be visibly reflected on the official village entrance signage.
According to municipal representatives, the integration of the university status into the official place name underscores the City of Möckern's appreciation for Friedensau Adventist University (Theologische Hochschule Friedensau). Local authorities noted that the institution has shaped the development of the locality for generations, establishing it as a regional and extra-regional center of education. The updated designation reflects the shared growth and interconnectedness between the municipality and the academic institution.

Fischer, Ph.D., rector of Friedensau Adventist University; Tobias H. Koch, chancellor and managing director of the institutions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; and representatives from the Jerichower Land district.
