Prague, Czech Rep. [Tomas Kabrt; CD EUDNews]. A collection of stories called "The One Million Times" was written and contributed, free of charge, by twenty-two Czech writers for the Adventist humanitarian organization ADRA. The authors of the book were present at the World Book Fair in Prague, from may 15 to 18. The stories were eventually published in the appendix "Salon" in Právo, a popular Czech newspaper. The purpose was to make ADRA more visible in the Czech Republic. The authors include Miloš Urban, Emil Hakl, Jaroslav Rudiš, Irena Dousková, Jiří Dědeček, Petra Soukupová, Marek Šindelka and Arnošt Goldflam. All profits from the book will go towards project developments of the Czech branch of ADRA in Kenya and Bangladesh. Veronika Holcová, the graphic designer and illustrator of the book, and even the editors have given up their legal rights.

During the presentation of the book "The One Million Times" at the Prague World Book Fair, Miloš Urban read his story of 'Ester and the Racists', ADRA presented its development project, and several of the authors signed autographs. Honour was the theme of the stories in the book, it was chosen because dedicated workers go all over the world to help build relational bridges between people.

The purpose of the project was to make ADRA more visible, and at the same time it brought together representatives of contemporary Czech writers. Among the authors were young debutants and some of the most respected Czech writers. ADRA started work in the Czech Republic in 1992 and gradually became one of the three largest humanitarian organizations in the country. ADRA helps in emergencies, in implementing long-term development projects locally and abroad and improves volunteer services in the country.
