For over a century, International Women’s Day (IWD) stands as a symbol of global activism and celebration for women’s equality. Today, on this occasion, we are happy to share the inspiring story of Rupali and her family, whose lives have been transformed through ADRA’s Community Empowerment Project (CEP). This project aimed at supporting marginalized communities and improve their living conditions.
Rupali’s Transformation
Rupali, a skilled bag maker, embarked on a remarkable journey after participating in an ADRA course. Through sheer determination and hard work, she not only mastered her craft but also significantly improved her family’s livelihood. By crafting bags for local businesses, Rupali is seeing a substantial increase in their household income.
Education and Growth
Thanks to Rupali’s newfound success, her children now have access to education, are learning and growing. Even though the younger son is not yet in school, he looks forward to the day when he can attend alongside his older sisters. They now have access to new books and uniforms, providing them with the opportunity to continue their education and development.
Strong as a family
Rupali’s family functions as a strong team, with everyone contributing to the bag-making enterprise. This collaborative effort not only strengthens familial bonds but also gives a sense of value and purpose to the children. Moreover, Rupali pays it forward by training other women in bag making, empowering them to improve their own lives.
Sustainability and Impact
This successful venture has not only improved the family’s financial situation but has also helped them meet their basic needs. Rupali can now ensure that the family never goes hungry and buy books for her children’s education. She has also used her skills to recycle old sacks and create bags to assist in agriculture and gardening. Rupali is now a role model for her children and looks forward to continuing to help others and create opportunities for them to have a better life.
Rupali’s journey is an example of the transformative power of education and economic empowerment. Let us be inspired by her determination. Together with you, we remain committed to supporting women like Rupali and fostering inclusive growth in marginalized communities.
