Bern, Switzerland [CD EUDNews]. October 10, 2014. “We have been created and formed to glorify, honour, praise, exalt, and please God.” This is the essence of worship. It must show our adoration and loyalty to God for his grace in providing us with a way of escape from the bondage of sin, and have the salvation he so much wants to grant us. "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble... Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up". (James 4:6.7.10.)
The Essence of Worship Conference, which will be held at the Grange Hotel in Bracknell, England, from 19-20 October, is designed as a special opportunity to experience biblical worship, to learn why we worship, to understand the role of music in worship as its meaningful and important role. The speakers for the conference – Lilianne Doukhan, Kleber Goncalves, Tihomir Lazic, Kart Lazic, Gabriele Giuga, Ken Burton, Karl Johnson, Renate Hazel, Miroslav Pujic, Geert Tap, Sam Neves – will approach worship from different aspects and viewpoints, such as history, culture, psychology, communication, technology, etc.
The Conference was organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Inter-European Division (EUD) and Trans-European Division (TED).
Corrado Cozzi and Miroslav Puijc, both Communication directors of both European Regions, intend to create a common platform to discuss, organize and plant a possible model of worship to be applied in the church. “In the past, the EUD organized different conferences around the controversial topic of music and how to adopt it into the Adventist church” said Corrado Cozzi, “this time the focus is music as part of a more complex worship concept.”
Among the subjects presented: Bible and Worship, Music and Worship, History of Worship, Culture and Worship, Psychology of Worship, Communication and Worship, EGW and Music, Creative Worship Ideas, etc. Two panels for discussion have been planned, to give the participants the possibility to give their feed-back during the presentations.
Resources will be available on the web page as well as references on books mainly presenting the topic of worship.
