Bern, Switzerland. [CD-EUDNews]. The Inter-European Region (EUD) Office opened its doors again after the Christmas holidays with a special workers’ meeting. Most of the department directors came together with the staff to start the New Year focusing on programs and projects to strengthen the church to accomplish its mission. “Walking together is a good opportunity to improve synergy among us” said Bruno Vertallier, EUD president in his opening remarks, and directing his attention to the episode of Jesus walking beside the two disciples of Emmaus (Luke 24). Inspired by this episode, Pastor Vertallier invited all participants to recognize Jesus walking beside all who want know Him better, and above all “to urge Him to stay and not walk away.”
All Adventist members that are involved in a program or project focusing on the mission of the church, need this support from Jesus.
Encouraged by this assurance, the participants of this first workers’ meeting of the year, started contributing to one of the main projects of 2013: the Inter-ministries Convention. This Convention aims to develop the most important discipleship concept among those present. “To be members of the church could give a sense of belonging,” said Paolo Benini, one of the organizers of the Convention, “but ev
en more effective in terms of mission, is to be a disciple of Jesus.” And this is the objective of the Convention.
“United to Serve – Be my Disciple” is the motto of the meeting. All EUD department directors and guest speakers will try to take us on a spiritual and practical ‘journey’ to equip us according to the goal of the convention.
This will be held in Torre Pedrera, Rimini, Italy, on March 13-16, 2013.
Church administrators, department directors, pastors, local church leaders and church members involved in service and mission are invited to participate.
“We would like to equip the church to face the challenges of life,” said Corrado Cozzi, one of the organizers, “in order to keep the church ready for the second coming of Jesus.” Nobody knows when it will be, only God. That is why nobody can fix conditions or suggest possible dates. Our task is to be ready at any time, and this is the invitation offered by this Convention.
