France, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia...the list of areas hit by terrorist attacks grows longer every day – and it does not seem to stop.
The whole world appears to be destabilized, a prey to fear, terror and confusion. The West, up until a few years ago a thriving, prosperous and secure region, lives in moments of anxiety and deep insecurity. Great European cities are militarized and under tight control. The fear is palpable everywhere.
Earthly institutions appear fragile and seem to not guarantee material and spiritual stability anymore. People are desperately searching for peace, serenity and security.
In the light of all this we wish to, first of all, extend our most sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks. May our prayers and thoughts comfort them in this time of pain, anger and sadness. May our love gather them in an encompassing hug. We also pray that the Lord, our God, may fill their hearts with the certainty of eternal life, in which we will live with joy and gladness in brotherly communion. Death and pain will be no more!
Firm and unconditional is our condemnation of all acts of terror, violence and oppression. May weapons, hate and violence cease! We are all brothers and sisters, children of one same Father.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church endeavors - within its possibilities - to provide spiritual and moral support through its religious, social and humanitarian institutions.
We encourage adventist members to draw close to all who are suffering, in these times of great anguish. May we all be ambassadors of the Kingdom of God, bearers of the glorious certainty of the return of Jesus Christ and of a joyful life in the Heavenly Kingdom.
