Expo Biblia Sabadell: The Bible Takes to the Streets

During the 18th, 19th, and 20th of September, the city of Sabadell hosted an educational and religious initiative called Expo Biblia (Bible Expo). The project was organized by the Department of Personal Ministries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Sabadell, under the leadership of coordinator Edna Perdomo. The local congregation and Pastor Julio Leal provided support for the exhibition, along with special collaboration by Adventist volunteers from various churches in the Barcelona district.

On Friday morning, the exhibition was inaugurated with the presence of Sílvia García Peláez, Councilor for Religious Affairs, Tourism, Health, and Youth of the Sabadell City Council. She was accompanied by technician María and Pastor Daniel Moreno, who delivered the opening remarks for the event. Afterwards, Roger Daniel Olivares, the church member in charge and technician for Expo Biblia, gave an explanatory tour of the event that fascinated the municipal team and the guests.

The activity took place at the Plaça de l’Argub in Parc Catalunya, a heavily trafficked area located in front of El Corte Inglés in Sabadell. Here, members of the Adventist community set up the exhibition with the purpose of bringing the Bible closer to citizens and offering an open space to better understand its history, content, and relevance.

The initiative brought together volunteers from different Adventist congregations in the Barcelona district, who participated in the various activities and attended to the people who approached the site. Their presence sought to encourage encounters with the public and generate a space for dialogue surrounding the Bible and its teachings.

A Space Open to the Public

Expo Biblia aims to present the Scriptures from a historical, cultural, and spiritual perspective, allowing visitors to explore different aspects related to the biblical text.

Throughout the three days, volunteers had the opportunity to converse with neighbors and passersby, answer questions, and share information related to the Bible and the Christian faith. The organizers especially highlighted the participatory nature of the activity, made possible thanks to the collaboration of members from various Adventist churches in Barcelona and its surroundings.

Volunteering and Participation

One of the prominent elements of this initiative is the joint participation of volunteers from different congregations. Collaboration between the churches makes it possible to bring together people with diverse experiences and skills to contribute to the development of the exhibition.

Beyond the presentation of materials, the activity seeks to become a meeting point between the Christian community and the citizens of Sabadell, promoting conversations on issues related to faith, values, and the biblical message.

With this initiative, the Adventist Church of Sabadell has chosen to take its activities outside its usual spaces and bring them directly to the public, using a central location in the city as a setting to present the Bible in an accessible way.

Expo Biblia concluded on September 20, after three days of public presence in Sabadell.
