On September 9, the Theological Seminary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Friedensau has taken the first four refugees, two men and two women, as additional participants in the german language course. The aim is to give to highly motivated immigrants a chance to learn at a higher level German and thus sustainably overcome their language barriers.

For the nine-month intensive course "German as a foreign language”, young people from around the world have enrolled at the University, as every year. The students prepare themselves for studying in Germany, told Andrea Cramer, spokesperson of the University. They came from the USA, Hungary, France, Laos, Mexico, Peru, Korea and Bosnia-Herzegovina. In addition, three refugees from Syria and one from Iraq will attend now the course too. They will be divided into small groups and will be using the latest learning materials in a modern language laboratory. Excursions to Luther sites and nearby cities will complete the course program.

This course will be free of cost for the refugees, whereas the cost of learning material, excursions and lunch in the cafeteria are only partially funded. The cost of travels by public transport from Magdeburg, where the immigrants live, to Friedensau are not covered. Therefore, the Friedensau Foundation is inviting to donate.
