At the German Protestant Church Congress from 7 to 11 June in Nuremberg, the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its associated institutions provided information about their work: the Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Germany (ADRA Germany), Hope TV Deutsch, and the Friedensau University.

The German Protestant Church Congress is one of the largest religious events in Germany. According to the organisers, around 70,000 people took part in the ‘Kirchentag programme’ over the past five days, and around 130,000 people were out and about in Nuremberg city centre at the Evening of Encounter on Wednesday.

"These were intensive days with many positive encounters. It was a pleasure that we, as representatives of our Church, could be part of this event," said Johannes Naether and Werner Dullinger, presidents of the Seventh-day Adventists in North/East and South Germany respectively. The Seventh-day Adventist Church emerged from the revival movement of the 19th century. It currently has over 22 million members in more than 200 countries around the world. In Germany, around 34,000 members are organised in 542 congregations. Their only basis of faith is the Bible.

Adventist Development and Disaster Relief - ADRA

ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) is an international aid organisation that works in different areas for those in need according to its motto "Justice, Compassion, Love". ADRA Germany was founded in 1987 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is part of a worldwide network with over 130 national ADRA offices.

Friedensau University

Friedensau University is a state-recognised university run by Seventh-day Adventists. Eight bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes can be taken here - some of them part-time - in the fields of Christian social work and theology. Around 40 nations are represented among the students and teachers.

Hope TV Germany

The Christian television station Hope TV Deutsch also belongs to the Hope Media Europe media centre, based in Alsbach-Hähnlein. It is part of the international Hope Channel family of stations, which was founded in the USA in 2003 and consists of about 50 national stations. The programmes of Hope TV Deutsch can be received via satellite, Unitymedia cable and internet.
