"Growing in Bond", the first book on the topic of attachment-oriented parenting from a Christian perspective, has been published under the title “In Bindung wachsen - Erziehung nach Jesu Vorbild“ (Growing in Bond - Parenting according to the example of Jesus). The three authors - themselves educators - co-founded the popular podcast "inBindung" (theBond) and wrote down their knowledge in the book that was published by Advent-Verlag Lüneburg in the summer of 2022. It is a book full of encouragement for parents.
"What is special about the book is that it shows both how children mature from the inside as well as what happens when maturity is forced upon them from the outside,” explains Junit Horch, one of the authors. “With the understanding of immaturity and the child's inner processes of maturation, it shows new ways to enable peaceful parenting and real growth," Horch concluded.
"Growing in Bond" is aimed at parents who want to accompany their child as he or she grows up in the best possible way and, in doing so, also impart to him or her an image of God in which love is at the center. In a sensitive and scientifically sound way, the authors show the process of maturation and encourage parents to raise their children in a bonding way as a result.
About the Podcast
In September 2020, Junita Horch, Julia Wanitschek, and Marina Hoffmann, together with Anna Born and Sonja Eitzenberger, started theBond Podcast. "We were rather surprised by how quickly the podcast has spread among young parents from very different denominations," says Marina Hoffmann, another author. "With our podcast, we pursue three primary goals: We want to help our listeners to understand children's hearts, to reach their parents' hearts, and to let them see God with new eyes. To do this, we communicate current findings from psychology and brain research, help them to reflect on their actions as parents, and tell them how we can see God as a loving Father, [a] healer of inner wounds, and a heart-changer in a completely new way," adds the author Julia Wanitschek.
Since the podcast founders themselves were frustrated by the fact that there were no Christian parenting guides, they decided to write a book themselves.
