Bern, Switzerland [SdH, CD EUDNews]. February 26, 2015.
The third international "Global Youth Day" will be held on March 21 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It will start off with more than eight million young people worldwide, with various relief efforts for those in their own neighbourhoods.
"The 3rd edition of GYD will be another significant incremental step toward the pursuit of a vision to recapture the reality of Seventh-day Adventist Youth as a global movement and reposition mission at the heart of its existence. With the support of the youth directors around the world, GYD was launched as a grassroots movement mainly through social media and it is so gratifying to see that the organization is catching up with the people", so Gilbert Cangy, Youth Ministries Director at a GC level.
During one live broadcast there will be over 24 hours of transmitting and reporting to cover the activities.
The "Global Youth Day" with live circuits in 23 different studios around the world will begin on the Island of Fiji and end in USA. From 3-4 p.m. (CET), HOPE Channel Studios in Germany will cover the activities for Central and Southern Europe.
Like last year, the production department of VOICE OF HOPE (Stimme der Hoffnung) accepted and assumed the "Master Control" and will coordinate technical programs and live broadcasts recognized by all studios worldwide.
Compared to the 1st and 2nd edition, "while the overarching goals of GYD remain constant, the significance difference will be the scope of participation", continued Dir. Cangy. "I was in Beirut yesterday and was very excited to see that our youth in Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, UAE and Qatar are mobilizing for GYD; the South American Division has changed its annual youth day to align with GYD we will have two hours of live reporting from Novo Tempo, their Hope Channel Studios and from their headquarters in Brasilia. In view of holding the 24 hours of live transmission together, Stimme der Hoffnung, the Hope Channel in Germany, will function as a hub during the whole transmission. We are also extending the GYD network to the educational system with the hours of live hosting from Montemorelos University in Mexico."
The "Global Youth Day," can be followed on its own website (www.globalyouthday.org) and the corresponding App. It's also possible to interact via facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AdventistGlobalYouthDay) and Twitter (#GlobalYouthDay).
Cangy concluded with a wish for the european youth: "EUD youth, under the leadership of the innovative Stephan Sigg have been partners with GYD from its very inception and EUD and we are looking for even greater mobilization for GYD 2015. We are delighted with this trend as EUD will also be the host for Impact Europe, the World Youth Ministries Congress in 2018, in Stuttgart, Germany. That is very significant for me as a leader, to witness global alignment from with our European partners. We are indeed one movement, united in the Power of ONE."
