On August 1, Thomas Lobitz took over as editor-in-chief of the Adventist Press Service (APD). Stephan G. Brass was given a well-deserved retirement.
With Thomas Lobitz (53), an experienced journalist takes over the editorship. He has been working as a magazine editor at Advent-Verlag, Lüneburg, since 2005, and took over the chief editorship of the church magazine "Adventisten heute" in 2016. He will continue to work in this capacity. Due to the change in personnel, APD will be managed from Lüneburg in the future while the headquarters remain in Ostfildern (Stuttgart) for the time being.
Jens-Oliver Mohr, who is also the press spokesperson for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany, will serve as deputy editor-in-chief. He led APD as editor-in-chief from 2015 to 2019. A special thanks goes to Holger Teubert, who was editor-in-chief of APD in 1986 and then from 1991 to 2015. He will continue to serve on the editorial board.
Stephan G. Brass (67) has been Communications Officer for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany since 2017. After personnel changes within the Church, he additionally took over the editorship of APD two years ago. Brass was among the first users of the internet in Germany, starting with field trials under what was then called Bildschirmtext (BTX). During his ministry as a pastor, he looked after the regional church leaderships in the respective federal states as a press spokesman or as a commissioner in press and public relations.
