On February 24, 2025, the mayor of Aldaia (Valencia), Guillermo Luján, met with Sara Pérez, ADRA coordinator in the Valencia DANA project, and Darío Moreno, the mayor of Sagunto. The municipality thanked them for their support, help, and solidarity work carried out since October 29, 2024.
Luján highlighted the dedication of the dozens of ADRA volunteers who "worked so hard so that the residents of Aldaia could see a light of hope in such dark times," he explained. "Being able to count on a human team with these characteristics was wonderful, [and] the help provided to clean our streets was extraordinary; ‘thank you’ from the bottom of my heart." Along with the mayor of Aldaia, the councilor for Social Services of the municipality, Empar Folgado Ros, also participated in the meeting. ADRA volunteers have collaborated in street cleaning, rehabilitating houses damaged by the rains, distributing supplies, and supporting those affected.
More than 230,000 euros in donations for the DANA
ADRA Spain has received more than 230,000 euros in donations from all over Spain, and also from the ADRA International network, to deal with the DANA emergency in the Valencian community.
With all this help, ADRA was able to organise two logistics distribution points for food and basic necessities in the municipalities of Paiporta, the epicentre of the catastrophe, and Catarroja. They also designated a logistics warehouse, in Albalat dels Sorells, through which all donations and logistical material for this emergency are channelled.
“ADRA Spain would like to give special thanks for the work of the hundreds of volunteers who, during these first months, have collaborated and continue to contribute their time to the reconstruction of Valencia,” stated the ADRA Spain Press Office.
