Religious Freedom Training Seminar Held in A Coruña

Revista Adventista

On February 27 and 28, the Adventist Church in A Coruña hosted a specialized training seminar focused on religious freedom. The event brought together pastors and church leaders from across Northwest Spain to reinforce institutional identity and mission through a legal and theological lens.

Strategic Training and Legal Framework

The sessions were led by Pastor Rubén Guzmán, Director of the Religious Freedom and Communication departments for the Spanish Adventist Union. The curriculum provided an in-depth analysis of the rights and responsibilities of Seventh-day Adventists within the current legal framework.

Key topics included:

Biblical Foundations: The spiritual basis for freedom of conscience.
Current Legislation: Navigating the rights granted under Spanish law.
Ethical Exercise: The importance of exercising religious liberty with professional responsibility and respect for other denominations.

Institutional Collaboration and Practical Perspectives

A highlight of the seminar was the participation of Fernando Hernández, a member of the Religious Freedom Board of the Madrid Municipal Police. Invited to provide a practical perspective, Hernández shared insights gained from years of institutional collaboration. His contribution focused on the management and protection of fundamental rights from a civic and law enforcement standpoint.

The event saw a broad regional representation, with attendees traveling from: Galicia, Asturias, León.

Strengthening Community Relations

Beyond the technical training, the seminar served as a forum for professional dialogue and collective enrichment. Participants engaged in discussions aimed at unifying the strategic vision for their respective communities, ensuring that local leaders are equipped with the practical tools necessary for effective advocacy.

The seminar concluded with an acknowledgement of the contributions made by Pastor Guzmán and Fernando Hernández, highlighting the ongoing necessity of this ministry for both the internal growth of the church and its positive engagement with broader society.
