The regional Adventist church leadership for the regions of Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Bremen (Hanse Association) expresses its sympathy to the relatives of the victims of the mass shooting at a Jehova’s Witnesses Center in Hamburg-Alsterdorf. It calls on Adventist church congregations in Hamburg to pray for these people.

‘As Adventists in Hamburg, we woke up today to the news of a shocking act of bloodshed in the district of Alstertal. People have died violently in our city. People who were seeking peace and the protection of church spaces and who believe in the God of life who in Jesus Christ has shown the way to community and peaceful coexistence.

Prayer for the victims and their families should now become our prayer. All Adventist churches in Hamburg are called to intercede. We extend our sympathy and condolences to all members of the denomination of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hamburg, but especially to the families and relatives affected.

We are concerned about the development of violence and human coldness in our city. All the more determined, we want to choose the path of peace and understanding, together with all denominations and religions that walk with us on this path.’
