The Faith and Science Fundamentals webinar series took place between January and May of 2021. This online program consisted of a weekly 45-minute lecture by Dr. Noemi Duran, Biologist and Director of the European Branch of the Geoscience Research Institute, on topics relating faith, science, and origin models. The series was originally planned to go on for sixteen weeks divided in four sections: (1) Science, (2) Models of Origins, (3) Biology and Design, and (4) Rocks, Fossils and the Flood. Unfortunately, the last webinar of the last session, scheduled for May 12th, did not happen because Noemi suffered a very severe accident on May 9th. She was hospitalized for 45 days and went through a long recovery process, supported by the prayers and encouragement of the entire Spanish Union, her colleagues at the EUD headquarters, and many people in the EUD and other parts of the world. God made miracle after miracle and Dr. Duran is now well enough to fully reassume her tasks, including the Faith and Science Fundamentals missing session.

Human Fossils, a topic not to miss

The last session of the webinar series Faith and Science Fundamentals belongs to the section Rocks, Fossils and the Flood and it is entitled Human Fossils. It will go live on Wednesday, February 9, at 19:30 CET. In this lecture, Dr Duran will address some of the most common questions about human-like fossils in the faith and science debate: Are human fossils real? Which types of human-like fossils have been found? Do they support the evolutionary theory of man evolving from apes? How old are these fossils? Are they preflood or postflood?

All people interested in the topic can freely join the webinar by Zoom using the link https://zoom.us/j/97137067327

To follow the lecture it is not necessary to have attended the previous webinars, so everyone is welcome. At the end of the lecture there will be a Q & A session, in which the participants will be able to interact with Dr. Duran with their questions and comments.

As for the rest of the series, the webinar will be in Spanish with simultaneous translation to English, Romanian, German, Italian, Portuguese, Bulgarian and Slovak. For those who cannot connect to it live but still would like to watch the program, the webinar will be available on YouTube, in all eight languages, since Thursday February 10.

More about GRI and the Faith and Science Fundamentals webinar series

The Geoscience Research Institute (GRI) is an official institution of the General Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists with the mission to explore the natural world, seeking to develop and share an understanding of nature consistent with the biblical teaching as expressed in the SDA fundamental belief on creation. The Home Offices of GRI are located in the United States, in the campus of Loma Linda University in California. The institute has also branch offices in several parts of the world, one of which serves the EUD and it is currently located in the Campus Adventista de Sagunto, in Valencia, Spain. Dr. Noemi Duran, the branch office director, teaches Faith and Science classes in the EUD Universities of Adventist Theology, produces educational materials and resources, and organizes educational programs for people interested in knowing more about the biblical view of origins. One of this programs is the webinar series Faith and Science Fundamentals, a basic course on faith, science, and origin models open to public of all ages and backgrounds. With more than 500 people registered, the course was offered in 8 simultaneous languages using Zoom meetings. The sessions were recorded and are available in the YouTube channel of the GRI European Branch, GRI Live Creation, also in 8 languages.
