On April 9, 2022, the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Strasbourg celebrated its 120th anniversary.
Inspired by the biblical verse chosen for the occasion: "Speak, I have a numerous people in this city", the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Strasbourg blew out its 120 candles on April 9, 2022.
It was a beautiful and pleasant day, marked by words: words of gratitude to the Lord for the work done in this city, words of testimonies in various forms (drama, poem, songs ...) from church members, words of praise, and words shared by the guests.
Words of gratitude because this church, currently composed of about twenty different nationalities, had the joy of rediscovering its historical roots and its reason for being in the heart of this city.
René Frauchiger, the great-grandson of the pastor who made the church official in 1902, shared several anecdotes and photos of his great-grandfather, Emil Frauchiger. Strasbourg was a German city at the time...
Stephan Laub, archivist and historian of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Central Europe, presented an exhibition of missionary books and articles from the pioneer era.
Words of testimony and praise.
This day, in which the youngest to the oldest were involved, was an opportunity to share the actions accomplished with contemporaries and to renew the desire to be, through concrete actions, a community that brings hope and comfort in the city of Strasbourg.
Mario Brito (president of the Inter-European Division - EUD), Ruben de Abreu (president of the Franco-Belgian Union of Conferences - FBUC), Jean-Jack Chafograck (president of the France-North Conference - FFN) and François Todesco (pastor of the Strasbourg church) shared words of encouragement and vision during the celebration.
Also present were Christian Albecker (president of the Union of Protestant churches of Alsace Lorraine - UEPAL), Rudi Popp (president of the Protestant Council of Strasbourg - CPS), as well as Eddy Carneva, general secretary of the FFN and Karine Eloidin, treasurer of the FFN.
The local community was very grateful for their presence and encouragement during the 120th anniversary ceremony.
The Strasbourg Adventist Church currently has 273 members, carried by the most beautiful promise of the Word of God: the next return of Jesus.
"It is this Word that we want to share in this beautiful city of Strasbourg. What a joy it will be to finally be in his presence!" shared Pastor Todesco.
