Doomsday in 2012…?

The explanation of the complex system of Mayans time calculation it is not necessary in this article. Everyone can do this research on their own. Our purpose is rather to highlight the philosophical foundations that support the Maya long count, up to the amazing assertion that so worries some and amuses others: The End of the World in 2012! According to the sacred cosmology of Mayans, The origin of everything is Hunab Ku. His attributes are: Cosmic Butterfly; Supreme God; Creator; It is centrally located in our Galaxy. Time is up to him and controlled by him.
On this fateful day, December 21, 2012, among other events, one happening every 25,920 years is of special interest to us. The earth will perform a complete processional rotation around its axis, and in that day the golden age (our age) will end. At the end of the process of 25,920 years, the Sun will have made the entire journey through the 12 constellations of the zodiac entering in the Aquarian age, the harbinger of peace and spiritual luminosity. But, as an impersonal ultimate reality Hunab Ku, in order to transmit knowledge of well-being and salvation, needs a Mediator: Kukulkan.

December 21, 2012 and the return of Kukulkan
Kukulkan is the Mayan name that God gave the snake, a feathered serpent revered in ancient Mesoamerica. He is embodied in one or more men and in 999 AD he has left his people (Mayans) to return to the world from which he originated. The Mayans await his return.
Now, the pyramid of Kukulkan, (dedicated to him that is located in Chichen Itza) is a kind of astronomical clock that indicates the precession of the equinoxes, it has 91 steps on each side, 364 total, and is oriented so that on the Spring and Autumnal Equinox Day, an effect of the sun creates shadows and lights that look like the descent of a serpent, lighting up the reptile's head carved in stone. On December 21, 2012 in addition to this effect, there will be another: the tail of the snake will head the group of the Pleiades and the black hole at the center of the Galaxy.
At that point, the Sun will be aligned perfectly with Hunab Ku and… Kukulkan will beback.

Therefore, unless you believe in Hunab Ku as ultimate reality and Kukulkan as its mediator, you have no reason to worry! With this, I do not want to joke about an issue that is still real.
According to the Adventist eschatological comprehension, a correlation between environmental disasters and the End of Time exists. Such a correlation receives theological support form the Bible text. Let me share with you a couple of texts:
“So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?" 8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them. 9 "But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately." 10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 "And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 "But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.” (Luke 21:7-12)

This paragraph presents a clear, incontrovertible truth that goes on a collision course with that expressed by the Mayans’ prophecy. Let me to proceed analytically:
“So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"
The disciples ask what will be the portents of the end of the world. They get some answers from the Master:
“But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
Signs of a political nature, such as wars of unprecedented dimensions, will make you tremble. But, devastating as they are, such signs will NOT be the end.
"And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.”
These signs describe an extensive scenario of devastation. But, again, they are not enough to determine the end of the world.
The End of the World according to the Scriptures, when it happens, will not follow the emergence of deterministic laws, inherent to the Cosmos.
The End of the World will be the… End of a world that has exhausted its, physical, moral and spiritual resources, and the beginning of a New Creation intended by the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. I do not think that Kukulkan is back. I hope that Jesus Christ is coming soon!
