Romania: General Assembly confirms Aurel Neatu as Union President

The General Assembly of the Romanian Union of the Adventist Church was held from April 21 to 22, in Stupini. The motto was ‘Come, Lord Jesus’!

Barna Magyarosi, executive secretary of the Inter-European Division (EUD), was the representative officer from EUD Administration, and Marius Munteanu, director of the Education Department and Chaplain Ministries at EUD level, was the special guest.

The Assembly confirmed Aurel Neatu as Union president and George Pirlitu as executive secretary. Ionut Feier, previously treasurer at the Northern Transylvania Conference, was elected as treasurer.

The proposal committee came up with the following names before the Elective Assembly. All proposals received the vote of the Elective Assembly

Heads of departments in the next mandate, 2024 - 2029:

- Sabbath School and Personal Work - Daniel Brînzan

- Pastoral and Family Association - Marius Andrei

- Youth - loan - Gelu Poenariu

- Education - Valentin Filimon

- Communications and Religious Freedom - Dragoș Mușat

- Publications and Ethnic Groups - Lorand Balla

- Health - Ana-Maria Zanfir

- The Woman's Mission - Radu Liliana

- Christian Stewardship - Ciprian Şandru

“May God be their counselor in the face of all the challenges they will face in the new mandate,” commented Barna Magyarosi.

President Neatu expressed the following short statement: “Dear Seventh-day Adventist Family. I thank God for the great honor of serving the Romanian Union. May God bless the Adventist Church in Romania!”

Then, Neatu quoted a Bible verse from 1 John 2:28: ‘And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have boldness and at His coming not remain ashamed and distant from Him’.
